I recently chanced upon an email (courtesy of Mr. Lee Xing Cai's friend =D) depicting a young Pakistani(?) child whose arm was crushed by a truck as a punishment for stealing. While such a sentence is indeed shocking, I was rather irritated by the tone of the email, which called for the end of 'abominable Islamic practices', or something on that line. Which brings me to the point of hypocrisy.
In my opinion, there is nothing more disgusting than a hypocrite - one who says something but does another. Judging by the type of email it was, the fella who wrote it was probably some idiot with no life, no general knowledge, and probably nothing better to do. And who probably has some idiotic preconceived notion that all Muslims are evil. In short, it sounds like the American girl from Wisconsin whom I once wrote about a long long time ago, the one who took 'die all ye infidels' as her mantra and judgement of Islam. All because of 9/11, when these sheltered retards were suddenly exposed to 'Islam'.
Yes, the treatment the little boy received is horrific to me, or to many, but how on earth would it be related to Islam being 'evil' in the first place? It is true that the Middle East is predominantly Muslim, and traditional ones at that. And with a traditional mindset comes traditional practice. Meaning that these villagers probably did what they did, because that was what they have been doing for decades. In such a context, such treatment can thus technically be defined as being fair and just.
Furthermore, who the hell are we to judge what they do? So what if we have some idealistic, high and mighty views on human rights and all that what not? These opinions are ultimately ours, and ours alone. Not other peoples'. What is deemed acceptable by us may not be acceptable to them. And vice versa. A person has absolutely no right to judge a religion as evil just because it clashes with his own belief system. Or just because a select group of individuals carry our acts which we deem as abominable.
And please, do take a step back and look at yourselves first before making criticisms. Just because you are a Christian (or Buddhist, Hindu etc.) doesn't make Christianity the most upright or best of all religions. We too, have our own medieval opinions, such as 'an eye for an eye', 'if your right hand should cause you to sin, cut it off' and so on. So what if these are no longer in practice? They are still permanently inscribed into our religious text. You still don't see people criticizing that do you? I could probably find fault with all the smallest details of Christianity despite being a Christian myself, let alone a person from another religion. But obviously, our arguments would largely be short sighted and flawed, and would most likely be able to be applied to our very own religions, simply because most, if not all, religions are interlinked.
Much of this crap can be blamed on the terrorist groups of today, of which the 'Islamic' militants appear to be the most prolific in this era. Shallow people, living the sheltered lives they live, having never been exposed to Islam in their whole life, and who probably think Muslims are just people who have been circumcised and wear turbans, suddenly becoming aware of these extremist groups, automatically classify all Muslims as the same, simply because they have no brains to think. And thus they begin finding fault with anything remotely linked to the religion, under some retarded notion that they are being upright. Obviously, these fools are severely lacking in a little something called logic and reasoning. And general knowledge.
I guess I am more inclined to write about religion, due to my belief that all religions, inherently being forces of good, deserve to and must be respected. Obviously, this isn't being observed in our world today. Why? Because the world today is filled with idiots (including myself) who are self-centred and woefully ignorant about other people and their practices. So people, before you open your gaps to comment, do take a step back and think about what you yourself do first. Don't be a hypocrite.
