If dying to yourself was so easy, it wouldn't be called dying.
Most of my spiritual inspiration comes not when I'm actively concentrating on finding a word, but almost subconsciously. Oddly enough I pray best when I'm not actually focussing on saying a prayer.
By the same token, the time when I feel closest to God isn't when I partake in religious activities like mass or worship, but instead when I go about in my daily living. And in nature. I still enjoy the mass though. :P
I guess because I'm not much of a long-term planner by nature, the way God relates to me most often is to prompt me when the appropriate time arises. I really need to learn to wait on the Lord and surrender.
